UNILAG Student Affairs suspends planned protest

The Students Affairs of the University of Lagos (UNILAG)  through a statement released on Sunday March 5, 2016 issued severe warning against a planned protest which is set to take place today March 6, 2017 reason being that students, holding the protest, might secure room for violence. The statement, also advised students of the institution not to join those planning the protest but to go about their normal activities.

The statement released by the students Affairs partly reads; “Several reports reaching the Student Affairs office of the University of Lagos, UNILAG indicates that a planned protest is to occur on Monday, March 6, 2017 and to be led by SAVE UNILAG COALITION & REINSTATE UNILAG NOW.

“The protest could degenerate to violence, says Student Affairs office,

The Students Affairs office has therefore advised the students not to participate in the protest scenes for safety and security reasons.

Students are to avoid activities that will forestall the attainment of their academic objectives or extend the allotted number of years for their degree programmessaid the student Affairs Office.

For safety and security reasons, the students were also urged to avoid potential flashpoints within Lagos state.
