Sanchez revealed he played football in jail
Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has revealed he once played in a local jail while growing up as a young footballer in Chile.
The former Barcelona forward, known for his resilient nature in front of goal is one of the deadliest strikers in Europe and he has revealed his game was affected by his upbringing where he played at a local jail as a youngster that loved the game.
Sanchez told Arsenal Player ‘I wanted to be a professional footballer from when I was small, ‘My mental approach was always to win and to go as far as possible playing football.
‘I was always playing in tournaments and initially I played in goal. I was happy as long as I was playing football. I played with older people all the time – many of whom I really liked. ‘I played in the street, but we also used to go to the local jail to play. We played with the people there on a dirt pitch, and I played in goal.’
Sanchez is a subject of transfer interest from several clubs in Europe after failing to renew his contract at the Emirates, with reports that the likes of Inter Milan, Manchester City and Chelsea circling over his signature.
