According to reports from The Daily Star, Barcelona want to sign Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian in a £16million transfer.
The Italy international, who has been selected in Antonio Conte’s 23-man squad for Euro 2016, can operate on either side of the defence or as an emergency centre-half.
He moved to Old Trafford from Torino last summer and initially impressed. But the 26-year-old’s form dipped as the season went on and it’s claimed Jose Mourinho will look to offload him during the summer transfer window.
And according to The Daily Star, Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida is keen to sign Darmian in a £16million deal this summer.
The former striker is a big fan of Darmian’s, having overseen his development whilst emerging through the youth ranks at AC Milan – where Braida also worked as a director.
Darmian is likely being targeted as a replacement for three-time Champions League winner Dani Alves, with the right-back on the verge of a move to Juventus.
