NYSC Suspends 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course In Niger

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State.

In a notice posted on its official X handle on Sunday, the scheme cited ongoing renovation work at the orientation camp as the reason for the suspension.

The statement said the decision affects all prospective corps members (PCMs) posted to Niger State for the exercise.

“This is to notify the general public and prospective corps members deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that their orientation course has been suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the orientation camp,” it read.

It added that affected PCMs would be contacted at short notice with details on where and when to report for the exercise.

“PCMs affected should note that they will be contacted at short notice on where and when to report for their orientation course,” the statement added.

The management also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to affected corps members and their parents.

The suspension comes amid ongoing efforts to upgrade facilities at the camp.

Earlier in 2026, a severe windstorm damaged parts of the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State, including male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen, and staff quarters.

Following the incident, Governor Mohammed Bago directed immediate repairs to the facility.

Similar postponements due to renovation have also been recorded in states such as Enugu and Osun earlier in the year.

The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise officially began on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and was scheduled to run nationwide until Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
