Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing a new lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman he drugged on a date in 1991.
The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, is one of the last brought under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims of sexual abuse to file claims regardless of when the alleged abuse occurred.
The plaintiff in the lawsuit, Joi Dickerson-Neal, alleges that she met Combs in New York City in January 1991 while she was a student at Syracuse University. She claims that Combs invited her to dinner at Wells Restaurant in Harlem and then back to his studio. Once at the studio, Dickerson-Neal alleges that Combs drugged her and then sexually assaulted her.
Dickerson-Neal also alleges that Combs filmed the assault and distributed the video to others in the music industry. She claims that the assault and the distribution of the video caused her “severe emotional distress and psychological harm.”
Combs has denied the allegations against him, calling them “completely fabricated and untrue.” His attorney, Michael Zweiback, said in a statement that Combs “has never met or had any contact with” Dickerson-Neal.
The lawsuit is still in its early stages, and no trial date has been set. However, it is the second time in recent weeks that Combs has been accused of sexual misconduct. Earlier this month, singer Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs accusing him of sexual assault, domestic violence, and trafficking. That lawsuit was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.
