South African Grammy-winning singer, Tyla, has removed Lagos from the itinerary of her upcoming APOP World Tour.
A check by The Nation on the singer’s official tour website on Friday showed that the Lagos concert, earlier scheduled for December 22, was no longer listed.
The updated schedule retains all previously announced dates across Europe, North America and South Africa, but excludes Nigeria.
The Nation had reported on Monday that Lagos was listed as the only Nigerian stop on the tour, before it rounds off with shows in Cape Town on January 4 and Johannesburg on January 9.
The announcement drew mixed reactions on social media.
Some Nigerians like Do2dtun and VeryDarkMan called for a boycott of the concert in protest against renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
While some argued that no South African artiste should perform in Nigeria amid the attacks, others said musicians should not be held responsible for political or social issues.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Tyla nor her management had issued a statement on the removal of the Lagos date.
Concert promoters also had not announced a cancellation or postponement of the show.
