Why We Support Subsidy Removal – S’West NANS

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the South West Zone has explained why it supported the removal of subsidy by the President Muhammed Buhari’s administration.

The students who disclosed this at a press conference in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, over the weekend described the Federal Government’s policy on subsidy removal as a necessary sacrifice that is required to reposition the country towards the path of economic recovery.

The students stated that the removal of the over N1.4 trillion, which represents about %18 of the 2016 budget being paid as fuel subsidy would go a long way in reducing corruption and impunity in the system.

NANS
South West Coordinator, Comrade Okikiola Ogunsola, however, commended the President Buhari-led federal government for taking the bold step by removing the subsidy and also urged Nigerians to support the government.
