It was a sad Sunday in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as Plateau United midfielder, Simon Shehu Sabole, was reportedly killed in a ghastly car crash.
Club Spokesman, Albert Dakup, told newsmen that the sad news of the death of Sabole filtered in just after their 0-0 draw with four-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Kano Pillars, at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.
He explained that Sabole was making the trip from the Tin City to his hometown in Kaduna when the accident occurred.
“It is a very sad news to us at Plateau United because Shehu was one of our best players and played a very vital role in helping us gain promotion to the top division last season,” a visibly distraught Dakup told SuperSport.
“He was travelling to Kaduna so as to make arrangements for his wedding coming up next weekend. And then we got this sad news. This is really sad.”
Sabole previously donned the colours of Nigerian clubs El-Kanemi Warriors and Niger Tornadoes.
