Two Caleb British School students win world best English, Maths awards

Akota-Chika Serena of Caleb-British International School (CBIS), Magodo, Lagos, and Tolulope Israel Adekimi of CBIS, Lekki, have emerged as the highest-scoring students worldwide in the 2025 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations conducted by the Cambridge International Examination Council, in English Language and Mathematics, respectively.

Akota-Chika won the Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award for her exceptional performance in IGCSE English as a Second Language (Speaking Endorsement), while Tolulope Adekimi won the same award in Mathematics in the Cambridge Examinations.

Speaking about the feat, both Akota-Chika and Adekimi said it was made possible by the concerted efforts of the school’s highly skilled academic and non-academic staff, who were committed not only to the students’ educational development and well-being but also to producing quality manpower and building capacity for national advancement.

Reflecting on the recognition, the Director of Caleb Group of Schools, Dr Ola Adebogun, noted that the students’ achievement earned global recognition for Nigeria, and the Group of Schools is proud of this, as it underscores their intelligence and thorough preparation.

Dr Adebogun stressed that the school’s adherence to quality standards, with both Nigerian and British integrated curricula, affirms the institution’s core objective of producing accomplished and ambitious young boys and girls of proven integrity ready to make significant contributions to society.

He noted that CBIS, Magodo, and CBIS, Lekki, were established to develop every individual into a confident, happy and well-rounded child by instilling in them the realisation that the development of the mind and body, the enrichment of the intellect, and consideration for others are foundation stones for ultimate success.

“At Caleb Group of Schools, we offer a competitive environment, yet one that actively seeks to promote achievement in every child, and sometimes that achievement is simply by taking part. The opportunities and facilities we offer our children are second to none, hence our frequent success at both national and international levels, which speaks for itself,” he said.

He further stressed that at Caleb Group of Schools, the management invests heavily in cutting-edge teaching methods – from flipped classrooms to AI – and in language labs to ensure every student can discover their potential and lead with confidence.

The renowned Educationist cited the Caleb Group of Schools’ insistence on due process, recruitment of high-quality staff, and adherence to quality assurance standards set by both the government and regulatory bodies as measures the management was taking to ensure its students excel in all national and international examinations and competitions.

Dr Adebogun further noted that the array of laurels won by the Group of Schools, both in Nigeria and across the world, was attributable to the Group’s foundation as a faith-based citadel of learning that offers a balanced education combining morals with quality teaching, affirming that students learn in a serene atmosphere conducive to learning.

“It is at Caleb Group of Schools that every child has a fair chance of fulfilling their dreams, and here we offer a competitive environment where focused young minds are nurtured to achieve their full potential,” he stated.

The Visitor to Caleb University further stressed that across the world and in every area of human endeavour, products of the Group of Schools have been found worthy in both character and learning, noting that the Group has been producing top-range young men and women of rectitude who excel in their further studies and are doing well in their respective endeavours.

“At Caleb Group of Schools, we insist on doing it right, always, so that our core values are Godliness, innovation, service, integrity, teamwork, excellence and creativity.”
