The Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Prof. NuhuYaqub, has confirmed on Monday 27th February 2017 at the 4th matriculation ceremony, that 1367 students were admitted out of 13,000 that chose the school as their first choice for the 2016/2017 academic session.

He said this is a far cry from the more than12,000 candidates that chose the university as their second choice. He however, commended the state government for their efforts in providing adequate funds and facilities to the university.
