The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commenced nationwide Federal Roads Project Tour in Kaduna State.

NANS said the tour was aimed at assessing federal road projects leading to tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
A statement by the President, NANS, Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez said the tour commenced at the Federal Co-operative College, Kaduna, along the Kaduna-Abuja Road, where the ongoing Federal Government road construction project was inspected.
According to him, the Kaduna-Abuja Federal Government road project runs directly through the Federal Co-operative College, Kaduna, providing a major access route used daily by students.
“Similarly, I arrived in Kano State in continuation of the ongoing Nationwide Federal Roads Project Tour. Our first point of contact was the Kaduna-Kano Road, which passes through Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education.
“During the inspection, we examined the quality of the road and its impact on the movement of students within and around the institution. Clearly, the improved road infrastructure has made commuting easier for students.
“As part of the tour, I engaged the students of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education and the leadership of the Students’ Union on the importance of political consciousness and infrastructural development.
“I stressed that, as students, we are directly affected by government policies and must remain actively involved in policy formulation and government projects, especially those that affect us.
“The Kaduna-Kano Road, particularly the section passing through Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, is of good quality. I further sought the opinions of the students on the road construction passing through the institution.”
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for the project, noting that the improved road has eased their movement and reduced transportation challenges.
“In the same vein, the leadership of NANS engaged the management of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education on matters concerning the well-being of our students. Dr. Kabiru Ahmed Gwarzo is a commendable and student-friendly Provost committed to the welfare of students.
“Going forward, we commend the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, CON, for their investments in infrastructural development.
“This is particularly important to us as students. We commute daily along these roads to our various institutions, making their quality and accessibility a matter of direct concern to us.
“As major users of the nation’s road infrastructure, the leadership of NANS will continue to tour federal road projects across the country, assess their quality, and examine their impact on students’ daily movement to and from our institutions.
“This tour is geared towards assessing, firsthand, the condition and quality of roads leading to our campuses, identifying challenges, and making recommendations where necessary.
“As the voice of Nigerian students, we will continue to advocate for projects and policies that address students’ welfare.
“The tour will continue across other parts of the country, after which an official report and recommendations will be presented.”
