The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has unveiled a handbook to educate consumers on their rights and steps towards getting justice.
General Manager Afolabi Solebo, who presented the handbook to students of the Government Technical College, Epe, said the move was to fulfil LASCOPA’s mandate of public enlightenment
Solebo said the handbook has been designed to increase public awareness among students and other stakeholders.
According to him, LASCOPA decided to take the sensitisation to schools because parents often relied on their children to make purchases for them, so it was important for the students to know what to look out for in such situations.
The sensitisation held last week at Government Technical College, Agidingbi, and would be taken to other schools soon.
Solebo also reiterated the need for consumers to patronise genuine stores instead of roadside traders.
He said: “Everyone should know that as much as they have rights when it comes to buying and selling of goods, they also have roles and responsibilities which they must play.
