Caleb British International School, Abijo, Lagos, has emerged the national champion at the Zenith Bank Future Innovators Challenge.
The school was represented by a quartet of students: Deborah Iweha, Makayla Inyere, Fife Alonge and Okeke Janelle.
The school defeated finalists from across Nigeria to win the Zecathon 6.0, taking home the N5m grand prize for its project, ReLearn.
The Future Innovators Challenge is Zenith Bank’s flagship innovation contest for senior secondary school students.
Organised in partnership with Beyond Limits as part of the broader Zecathon 6.0 2026 innovation programme, the initiative exposes African students to teamwork, problem-solving and technology, with a combined N10m prize pool for the top three schools.
ReLearn is a student-built digital platform designed to give unused textbooks a second life.
Developed after the team conducted independent research with parents, the platform seeks to address the high cost of educational materials.
Rather than allowing old textbooks to remain unused in homes after an academic session, the platform redistributes them to students in need.
Team member Deborah Iweha said, “The platform helps families save money and ensures no child goes to school without the right set of books.”
Another team member, Fife Alonge, noted that ReLearn helps bridge educational gaps by enabling children in underserved communities to access quality learning materials at a fraction of the market price.
The team said it planned to use the N5m prize money to expand the platform beyond CBIS and put thousands more textbooks into the hands of Nigerian students.
The Director of the Caleb Group of Schools, Dr Oladega Adebogun, said the achievement demonstrated the school’s commitment to excellent academic performance and high moral standards.
“This national success is a firm validation of our huge investment in modern, state-of-the-art ICT learning hubs, tech innovation labs and world-class audiovisual laboratories,” Adebogun said.
He added, “The feat is no surprise, as the Caleb Group of Schools-spanning Lekki, Magodo and the Lagos Mainland -has consistently established itself as a citadel of academic excellence and a nurturing ground for tomorrow’s entrepreneurs.”
Adebogun described the victory as a collective triumph for the school community, including parents, management and staff.
The students were coached by mentors from the Caleb British International School Young Entrepreneurs Club, including Israel Adewuyi, Gbadebo Clement, Adedayo Olaoluwa, Uche Okeke and Awodiya Dorcas, alongside the school’s Head of Competition, Awoyemi Samuel.
The achievement follows the Caleb Group of Schools’ recent success at the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Learner Awards 2026, where Akota-Chika Serena of CBIS Magodo emerged Best-in-the-World in IGCSE English, while Adekimi Tolulope Israel of CBIS Lekki secured the same distinction in IGCSE Mathematics.
