In a video posted to Kylie Jenner’s YouTube channel, the beauty magnate and her older sister, Kim Kardashian, have some one-on-one time that involves makeup (naturally) and Kardashian letting viewers know exactly why her kids have their distinct names. Specifically, she talks about the name North, telling Jenner that she decided on the name after she appeared on The Tonight Show and then-host Jay Leno joked about it. Well, the name stuck and now, Kim and Kanye West’s kids’ names are the stuff of legend.
“I actually got it from Jay Leno, who made that as a joke,” she told Jenner, adding that it took “four or five days” to finally decide. “Everyone was coming up to me like, ‘It’s such a cool name. You should really think about it.'” She added that she loved the name and her daughter seems to fit the moniker: “They really become the name you name them,” she said.
During the show, which aired back in 2013, Kardashian and Leno were speaking about her pregnancy and the wild rumors that surrounded it, the baby’s forthcoming name included.
