Itsekiri Students Sponsored By PAP Abandoned In Novena University – NAIS

Itsekiri students in the scholarship scheme of the Presidential Amnesty Programme , PAP, for various degree programmes at the Novena University, Ogume, Ndokwa West local government area, Delta state have been allegedly abandoned.

President of the university ‘s chapter of National Association of Itsekiri students, NAIS, Mr Ogbe Michael-Oritsetimeyin and the Secretary, Clement Ometia disclosed this in a Save our soul ,SOS, letter to the newly appointed Administrator of the PAP, Dr Dennis Otuaro.

According to the students , those that have graduated could not be mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps scheme , NYSC, because they were not cleared by the university to participate.

They appealed to the Administrator PAP , Dr Otuaro to urgently clear their outstanding bills with the university, adding that they were all going through very agonizing moment because of the problem.

Continuing, they said the refusal of the private university to issue the graduates their degrees have also caused them stagnation in life as they could not proceed further with their various dreams and aspirations.

“As you are undoubtedly aware, the ongoing failure to settle tuition fees and release certificates has had severe consequences for Itsekiri students under the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Program at Novena University. This neglect has affected thousand students, including graduates, undergraduates, and postgraduates.

“Many graduates over the years remain unable to collect their certificates or participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), a critical milestone for students in Nigeria. Another batch graduated recently in July 2024, and a new group is set to graduate next year, further adding to the list of students awaiting resolution.

“This neglect has led to denial of Access to Certificates: Many graduates are unable to receive their certificates, hindering their ability to pursue further education or secure employment.

“We implore you to consider the gravity of our situation and the significance of your timely intervention. Your swift and decisive action will resolve these pressing issues and reinstate our trust in the government program.”

The students further congratulated the amnesty boss on his appointment, praying for his success in his new task.

“We begin by congratulating you on your appointment as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Program by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Your appointment reflects a strong commitment to education and peace in the Niger Delta region, and we trust that under your leadership, the program will see RENEWED HOPE and dedication to its foundational goals.”
