Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino to Headline Coachella 2019

Coachella has confirmed that Childish Gambino will play the headline slot on the opening day of its 2019 festival, Tame Impala will play the second, and Ariana Grande will close the desert carnival on the last night.

The line-up of the annual  event held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio – which will run for two weekends starting on April 12-14 and then again on April 19-21 – proves that rumours Kanye West would take one of the top stage slots were indeed just social media hearsay. Other performers on the publicised bill include Janelle Monáe, Idris Elba, Diplo, Khalid, Mac DeMarco, Virgil Abloh and Jaden Smith.

The three headliners take the baton from Beyoncé, The Weeknd and Eminem, who headlined the 2018 Coachella festival, where more than 150 artists took to the stages over the duration of the California event.

Festival tickets go on sale on January 4 at 11am PST (7pm GMT). General admission passes are $429 (£341), while VIP entry – your chance to rub shoulders with Kate Bosworth and Alessandra Ambrosio – costs $999 (£795).
