Award-winning singer-songwriter Alicia Keys will spice up the opening ceremony of next month’s Uefa Champions League final at the magnificent Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan, Italy.
In its bid to revamp the final of the most prestigious club competition in the world, Europe’s football governing body has partnered with Pepsi to feature the New York-born songstress who has sold over 50 million albums worldwide at the eagerly anticipated event on May 28.
The ‘A Woman’s Worth’ and ‘Girl on Fire’ singer speaks of her excitement ahead of the event.
“I’m extremely excited to share my new music at the UEFA Champions League final, an event that is celebrated in every corner of the world,” said Keys.
“This is going to be a powerful moment in history and one that represents the spirit of all the similarities we share no matter where we live and who we are. I’m honoured to be a special part of such a beloved experience.”
The Champions League final is watched by an estimated 180 million people annually, and Uefa’s Marketing Director Guy-Laurent Epstein believes having Alicia Keys at the event will only add to its appeal and universality.
“With such a highly-respected and truly global artist performing ahead of the final, it heightens even further the appeal of the match and consequently will reach a broader audience demographic.”
