Bida Ploy plans to construct accommodation for 6,000 students

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Dr. Abubakar Dzukogi, has revealed to News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday 24th of January 2017 of his plans partner with private developers in other to develop a 6,000-bed capacity hostels for its students.

He said that already the management of institution had duly notified the Federal Ministry of Education to seek its approval, noting that the project would be located in the polytechnic’s complex.

He further explained, that out of 15,000 students currently undergoing various courses in the polytechnic, only about 3,000 of them were accommodated in the institution hostels.

Dzukogi stated that most of the students were accommodated off campus, adding that it had negative effective on their studies.

He expressed confidence that the project if fully executed would solve the accommodation problem at the institution.

He also called for an improved founding of the institution to enable the renovation of some building structures in the institution.

He concluded by saying that the entire administrative block, including the office of the rector was in dire need of total rehabilitation because “during the raining season, roof is leaking”.
