Federal Government Cash Transfer: All You Need To Know

The federal government has turned to five licensed digital financial service providers to distribute its N50,000 emergency cash assistance to vulnerable households, seeking to reduce payment leakages, eliminate intermediaries and improve the delivery of social protection funds.

The October 2026 disbursement under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) is being channelled exclusively through ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo Payment Service Bank, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint, placing regulated digital finance platforms at the centre of the government’s latest poverty relief effort…

To check eligibility or access the Federal Government’s cash transfer programs (such as the ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention or the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer), you do not apply or register through public online forms. Beneficiaries are automatically selected from the National Social Register (NSR) and verified national identity records.

How Selection Works

  • Community-Based Targeting (CBT): State and local government teams work with community leaders to identify poor and vulnerable households.

  • Data Verification: Households are digitally registered and cross-referenced with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and Bank Verification Numbers (BVN).

  • No Application Needed: The government stresses that you cannot manually apply, pay a fee, or go through private agents to get added to the list.

How to Check if You Are Selected

If your household has been selected for current relief programs like the ₦50,000 NERSI cash relief, you can check your status or access your mobile wallet through approved financial service providers using these USSD codes:

  • ALAT by Wema: Dial *945*23#
  • MoMo PSB: Dial *671*0#
  • NairaGram: Dial *726*00#
  • OPay: Dial *955*20#
  • Moniepoint: Dial *5573*27#

Safety Warning: Official federal cash transfers are free. Don’t click on any link. Never share your PIN, One-Time Password (OTP), or BVN with anyone claiming to help you fast-track payment. You can contact official support via the National Social Safety-Nets helpline at 0700-022-2222
