Canadian rapper Drake has lost a $1.5 million bet after Spain’s 1-0 victory over Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The Grammy winner placed the wager on Argentina via the betting platform Stake.
A win for Argentina would have earned him over $5.1 million.
However, Spain scored in extra time to secure their second World Cup title, leaving Drake’s bet unsuccessful.
The result has once again sparked talk of the “Drake curse”, a viral theory that teams and athletes backed publicly by the rapper often end up losing.
Earlier this year, Drake also lost a bet on former UFC champion Conor McGregor, who was beaten by Max Holloway.
The “curse” has become so popular that fans launched TheDrakeCurse.com to track all of Drake’s sports picks and betting outcomes.
Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, is known for placing multimillion-dollar bets on major sporting events.
Most of these bets gain traction online because of the high stakes and frequent losses.
Spain’s win over Argentina ensured Drake’s latest big gamble ended in disappointment.
