OAU Final-Year Student Claims University Removed His Name From Graduation List In Retaliation For Protesting Wike’s Visit

Joshua Temitope Oladepo, a final-year student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has accused the institution of deliberately removing his name from the 2025 graduation list, claiming it is a form of punishment for participating in a protest against former FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during his controversial campus visit on June 5, 2025.

Oladepo told SaharaReporters that when he attempted to log into the university’s convocation portal on Thursday evening, he was shocked to find that his name had been excluded from the list of graduating students.

“I was one of the students arrested and detained when Wike came to our campus and we resisted. That was on June 5, 2025,” he said.
“This evening, I tried to log into my convocation portal but was told that my name has been excluded from the graduation list. Initially, my name was on it, and I had even paid the convocation fee of N40,000. This act seems linked to our resistance against Wike’s visit,” Oladepo added.
