VC Seeks Parental Collaboration As Anambra Varsity Matriculates 700

The Vice Chancellor, Tansian University in Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Prof. Eugene Nwadialor, has advocated parental involvement and collaboration as an important element to the educational development of students at higher institutions.

Nwadialor urged parents to actively participate in nurturing their children’s character and academic performance, cautioning against the dangers of complacency.

He stated this during the school’s 18th matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session held on Saturday.

The event, which marked a notable step for the new entrants, commenced with a Holy Mass and procession, culminating in the administration of the oath of allegiance.

While addressing the new students, the VC emphasised the importance of parental collaboration in their educational journey, and urged parents to communicate openly with school authorities.

He said, “Do not conceal your children’s faults, thinking it aids them; the demons we breed today can consume us tomorrow. We encourage parents to communicate openly with the university about any issues concerning their children.

“This fosters a supportive community that can help students excel. This partnership will keep the children accountable and inspire them to reach their full potential.

“Students must take advantage of the university’s programmes in entrepreneurship, extracurricular activities, and various facilities designed to prepare them for success beyond academia.

“Tansian University boasts six faculties: Law, Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Education, Management and Social Sciences, and Natural and Applied Sciences—alongside an entrepreneurial centre and numerous recreational groups.”

The Vice-Chancellor also emphasised the necessity for students to maintain a 75 per cent lecture attendance to be eligible for examinations and to dress appropriately and steer clear of cultism and substance abuse, warning that violations could lead to expulsion.

In a heartfelt appeal, he solicited financial support from parents and the community to enhance the university’s infrastructure and resources, ensuring a nurturing environment for the students.

The new students expressed their joy and commitment to excel during their time at Tansian University, vowing to uphold the institution’s standards and make both their families and the university proud.
