Saturday 21st August, 2021 witnessed the coming together of great minds from Ghana and Nigeria to celebrate the 5th Edition of the Ghana Nigeria Achievers Award (GNAA 2021). The theme for this year’s event was: ‘Celebrating impact and Humanitarian Effort’.
The event was established in 2016 to reward and honour individuals including companies that are making an impact while creating a cordial platform for interaction and consolidation of relationship between Ghana and Nigeria.
The 5th Edition which was held at the ultra modern event center, Labone witnessed a massive improvement from past editions.
Comrade Barry Ndu, CEO of the Ghana Nigeria Achievers Award Foundation while speaking to the media urged all recipients to keep working hard in improving the welfare of citizens. He stated that their nomination to be honoured was based on the great effort they have put in to impact society. Comrade Barry called on the Government of both countries to do everything within its capacity to ensure the relationship is sustained as Ghana and Nigeria have the capacity for the socio economic development of the African continent.
Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh, the majority Chief Whip at Ghana Parliament who received the Most Impactful Member of Parliament Award underscored the wonderful relationship that should exist between these two great Nations and hoped for a more positive connection going forward. He pledged to continue working hard in touching positively the lives of his constituents.
Ms. Amina Bolujoko, the Consular Officer at the Nigerian Commission who represented the High Commissioner appreciated the Ghana Nigeria Achievers Award Foundation for the good work they are doing and reinstated their support in ensuring they keep blazing the trail. She noted that all hands must be on deck to strengthen the friendly association of both countries.
Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, member Representing Bonny State Constituency at the Rivers state House of Assembly said Humanity would be impacted more if elected leaders do well in fulfilling the promises they made to the people. He assured of his commitment to uplift the living condition of his people in Rivers state.
High Chief Amb Sobomabo Jackrich, Leader of Kengema Unity Forum dedicated his Award to his people and confirmed his determination to keep doing more.
Some of the Award recipients include His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharbutu, Oheneyere Franca Ama Ani, Asamoah Gyan, Hon. Blessing Pepple, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Dr. Juliette Tuakli, High Chief Amb Sobomabo Jackrich, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Ms Lola Visser- Mabogunje, Joyce Apoasaan Jambeidu, Kofi Kinaata and many others.
The organizers said that they would be holding different editions in Lagos and Dubai in 2022.
In all, it was well planned and excellent event. The display of the cultural heritage of both countries also made the event more exciting and glamorous.
