The actor says “if I go, I go big” as he gives support to the candidates he believes are the best choice for America.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become the latest celebrity to endorse Democratic candidate Joe Biden for the presidency.
In a video shared on social media, the 48-year-old actor is seen interviewing Mr Biden and running mate Kamala Harris ahead of what he calls “arguably, the most critical election our country has seen in decades”.
Johnson tells his followers that endorsing a candidate “is something that I’ve certainly not done in the past, so I’m gonna go big – you guys know me, if I go, I go big!”
he Jumanji actor says: “As a registered independent for years now with centrist ideologies, I do feel that vice president Biden and senator Harris are the best choice to lead our country and I am endorsing them to become president and vice president of our United States.”
When he tells the candidates he is supporting their campaign for the White House, Mr Biden replies: “Thank you. That means a great deal to us, for real.”
Johnson talks about their political careers, and says Ms Harris’s experience proved she is “smart” and “tough” and a “certified badass”.
He asks the candidates how they would “earn the respect of all the American people” if they win the presidential race against Donald Trump in November.
Mr Biden tells him: “By keeping our word. By taking responsibility. Our administration, DJ, is going to look like America. It’s going to be representative of all of America.”
Ms Harris says “it’s about trust” and “you must speak truth”.
She adds “we’re facing as a country so many challenges” and to heal the problems “we have to be honest about what it’s going to take”.
Johnson joins a long list of renowned actors and actresses who have supported the Biden-Harris campaign, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Uzo Aduba and George Clooney.
