Toby Grey the ‘Gbona’ Sexy Diva
Toby Grey is a Nigerian female artist from Osun State, South West Nigeria who came into spotlight after doing a cover to Kiss Daniel’s hit single ‘Woju’, she called hers ‘Gboju’ a decision which didn’t come through without meeting several criticisms.
The sexy diva and University of Lagos French Language undergraduate, has since looked beyond critics and moved on to release other wonderful singles amongst which ‘Gbalowo e’ “Omoolope’ and ‘Gbona’, the later produced by Fliptyce and the video directed by MEX.
Toby Grey’s ‘Gbona’ single is currently enjoying airplay both on radio and TV, and her songs are influenced by the likes of Asa, Nneka, Leona Lewis and Ciara.
Adekunle Gold Woos Sade finds Orente
Adekunle Gold Kosoko is a Nigerian recording artiste signed to Olamide’s YBNL Nation label when he stormed the airwave with a romantic ballad ‘Sade’. As soon as the single ‘Sade’ was released it instantly became a dope because several ladies fell in love with the song and the passionate dude who’s madly in love with Sade.
Having been signed by Olamide with just ‘Sade’ some feel the decision was unbecoming as his fate musically can’t be justified by just a single and that he might just be another one hit wonder; but to our chalgrin, Adekunle Gold returns with a brand new single ‘Orente’ which have gradually become a massive hit disturbing the country’s media platforms. The Art and Industrial Design graduate from Lagos State Polytechnic conceived the ‘Orente’ concept from a story his grandmother told him. The song has since become a dedicated love anthem of some sort as most lovers now use it as each ring tone when their ‘boo’ or ‘bae’ calls.
Barrister Falz the Badt Guy
The son of popular lawyer Femi Falana; Folarin Falana, better known as the Falz the Badt Guy in the entertainment industry is a Hip-Hip recording artiste who recently returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom where he studied Law at the University of Reading to pursue a music career. He currently runs a self-owned independent record label, Bahdguys Records.
The qualified barrister who attended Law School Abuja decided to forego his calling to the bar to handling the mic at the club, he dumps his judicial wig and court dress, picking up classy look of an entertain ready to mingle.
Falz has since been subject of social media trend as he infuses comedy into his music, he’s however a creative young man per excellence who’s on a steady path to stardom. His popular singles enjoying airplay and online downloads includes ‘Celebrity Girlfriend’, ‘Karashika’ and ‘Ello Bae’ amongst others.
OShine Eyes the Legendary Throne
OShine Alasheju christened Oluwaseun Balogun is a new guy on the block who dreams of becoming a legend someday. The rapper and singer who shuttles Nigeria and the US, launched his musical career with singles ‘Keep Pushing’ which had reggae Maestro Natural Vybz and Faraw and ‘Eja Osan’. These two singles met a warm acceptance, enjoyed massive within and outside the shores of West Africa with a video to match the appeal ‘Eja Osan’ audio already created.
‘Eja Osan’ is a fuse of Afrobeat , Pop Music that takes us back to the good old days of sweet melody and great hooks. The chorus was picked carefully from a big tune from back in the day off a song made by the Legendary King Sunny Ade.
OShine’s new, sizzling single ‘Eno Tole’ is produced by Geamat. This Afrobeat tune is bound to take the streets, clubs and airwaves by storm. It exhibits great instrumental and great vocals. And the video is going to be shot in New York by Unlimited LA.
Oshine has also worked with the likes of Solid star, Patoranking along several others which have not been release to the general public yet.
Lil Kesh Small Body Big Engine
Ololade Keshinro popularly called Lil Kesh is a young Nigerian indigenous rapper from Lagos who started hustling as an upcoming artist on the street before fate connected he and Olamide who signed him to his YBNL Nation after listening to the song ‘Lyrically’.
The song ‘Lyrically’ gave him a soft landing in the entertainment industry especially amongst campus students as it became an anthem on students lips, especially those of the University of Lagos where he’s also a student.
He did his version of ‘Shoki Dance’ and also a remix of same song with his label boss Olamide and Davido, the song became a hit. Without relenting he also dropped ‘Gbese’ a song that changed his luck for good. He has since toured and played shows in some European countries, including UK.
CDQ Keeping Yoruba Rap alive after Dagrin
With some striking similarities with his mentor award winning late Nigerian rapper, Dagrin; Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf popularly known as CDQ is a Nigerian hip hop rap artiste, who dishes his rap lines in Yoruba language.
His choice of language has increased his popularity among his fans, with his consistency and deep lyrics, most people believe his rap sound very similar to that of 9ice, Nigeria’s foremost indigenous Yoruba singer; difference is that CDQ is a rapper.
CDQ has the following singles presently enjoying massive airplay, ‘Oobi’, ‘Talosobee’ and ‘Wadamimo’ amongst others.
Efa the Ladies’ Shuga Dude
Christened Efa Iwara but goes by the name Efa, he’s a Nigerian rapper, Hip-Hop enthusiast and actor who was born in the ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo State, he discovered his ability for rap at a tender age, he wrote a couple of verse. After high school, he moved on to the University of Ibadan where he studied Geography. As an undergraduate at the university, he alongside other friend formed a group X Factor. The group disbanded as priorities changed.
Efa’s last year ‘Sunmobi’ remix takes on the lighthearted approach that he’s known for working with Olamide ‘baddo Sneh’, in delivering new life to the original song. ‘Fall in Love’ featuring Plantashun Boiz a love song he dropped for the last valentine period. Altogether, his music is a head-bobber that his growing fans are enjoying.
Efa is also part of the casts the MTV Base Shuga powered HIV/AIDS Awareness campaign series which focuses on campus students and their sexual excesses, where he played David.
Kiss Daniel the Woju Crooner
Kiss Daniel born Anidugbe Oluwatobiloba Daniel is a Nigerian recording artist, performer and entertainer signed to G-Worldwide Entertainment. His career started professionally last year when he got signed to the label, he dropped an official single ‘Shoye’ and then he dropped the super hit ‘Woju’ September 2014, produced by DJ Coublon and its video directed by Adasa Cookey, the song spent 11 weeks on the MTV top ten chart and six weeks at the number one spot.
He also moved on to do a remix of ‘Woju’ featuring Tiwa Savage and Davido, which equally maintained a significant spot on the top ten charts, a cover of same song by 2face surfaced online.
His third single ‘Laye’ which was released earlier in the year has a video shot in Eastern part of Africa as directed by Aje films.
