Federal School official Arraigned for Embezzling N738,200

The Executive Officer of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, Mr Kabiru Oladele, has been arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for allegedly defrauding the college to the tune of N738,200, which was meant for a student’s tuition fee.

Oladele was dragged before Justice A. L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan for the alleged offence.

He was said to have collected the sum from a part-time student but refused to remit it to the school’s account.

Oladele, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the ICPC, Mrs Rashidat Okodua, made false returns and presented a fake bank teller to the college in respect of the fee as an evidence of payment by the student.

The ICPC told the court that the crime contravened sections 16 and 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, and was punishable under the same sections.

When the charges were read to him, the accused pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by the court in the sum of N2m and two sureties in like sum.

The judge adjourned the case till March 5, 2019, for further hearing.
