Zlatan Ibrahimovic could extend his stay at Manchester United after his manager Jose Mourinho revealed “the Swede is loving his life” at the club.
Ibrahimovic signed a one-year deal with the Reds in the summer after an illustrious career in Holland, Italy, France and Spain, but United have an option to offer another 12 months to the 35-year-old who has scored with eight goals in 14 starts so far.
“Zlatan’s situation is simple: he has a one-plus-one year [contract] with the club and we are happy with him,” said the manager, when asked about Ibrahimovic’s future.
“He is happy, committed and loving his life as a football player at Man United. This is probably the last big challenge of his football career, so it is perfect for him to be here.”
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the Swedish FA is planning to build a statue of Ibrahimovic outside the Friends Arena after the striker won the country’s Golden Ball award for the 11th time.
Ibrahimovic himself later spoke about his form and future in a separate media briefing, telling one journalist who questioned his performances at United: “I shine 24 hours [a day].”
MUTV will show full videos of Ibrahimovic and Mourinho speaking to the media in ‘The Manager’s Press Conference’ at 16:00, 18:30, 20:00, 22:00 and 23:30 GMT today (Wednesday).
