The Federal College of Education, Yola, will, on Saturday, graduate over 15,000 students and also play host to over 100 colleges of education for the Nigeria Colleges of Education Games Association.
While addressing journalists on Wednesday in Yola, the Provost, Professor Mohammed Usman Degereji, disclosed that the institution will award honorary degrees
to deserving individuals who have distinguished themselves in the different fields of life.
He also said that NICEGA games will commence on Saturday evening after the convocation and that the sporting events will last for nine days.
“If you look around the school, you will see a brand new sporting complex ready for the games. We are fully prepared for the schools that are coming to participate in the games,” he declared.
Degereji added, “we bought enough diesel to power our generators due to the power outage in the entire northern region, so, everything is on course for the visiting sports men and women to participate in the annual sporting event.”
The provost further pointed out that the graduating students will cover the 2011 to 2023 sets and that on the same Saturday, the institution will celebrate its 50-year anniversary.
He said that the institution has budgeted N162 million for the tripartite events that will include the convocation, hosting of NICEGA, and celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the institution.
The provost appealed to journalists to be positive in reporting the activities of the institution maintaining that journalists remain the last hope of the country.
