Wigwe Varsity Holds Maiden Matriculation For 120 Students

Wigwe University is set to hold its maiden matriculation ceremony today, November 14, 2024, with the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as the special guest of honour.

The event will be held at the Herbert Wigwe Auditorium within the university’s campus in Isiokpo, in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, at 9:00 am.

This was contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday by the Chairman of the Matriculation Ceremony Committee of the institution, Dr Sam Dede.

Dede disclosed that the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, will give a keynote address at the matriculation.

The statement partly read, “The ceremony will officially induct nearly 120 pioneering students into the university, symbolising the commencement of a new era for higher education in Africa.

“As the first group of students to matriculate, these individuals will play a pivotal role in embodying Wigwe University’s mission to train the next generation of fearless, innovative, and thoughtful leaders on the continent.

“The matriculation ceremony will feature a keynote address by the Emir of Kano, His Highness, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II.”

The statement added, “The event will be graced by a host of dignitaries, including the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, who is the Special Guest of Honour.

“Other notable guests from across the state and beyond will join the occasion to celebrate this landmark achievement in higher education.”
