UNIZIK student caught with 108 ATM cards on his way to China

300-level History and International Relations student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Mr. Pascal Udeh has been arrested with 108 Automated Teller Machine (ATM) debit cards at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The 34-year old‎, who is from Obibi in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State was arrested while he was attempting to board a Qatar Airline flight to China.

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a statement on Saturday, the ATM debit cards were properties to five commercial banks.

Ahmadu Garba‎, the NDLEA Commander at the Lagos airport, said the suspect was arrested in connection with suspected money laundering and was immediately transferred to the Assets and Financial Investigation Directorate of the Agency for investigation.

The agency, further disclosed that First City Monument Bank had the highest number of ATM cards with 58; Stanbic IBTC Bank had 23 cards; Zenith Bank, 19; Fidelity Bank, 6; and Diamond Bank, 2.

When questioned, the suspect said he was asked to take the cards to China. He confessed that he is a shop owner at the Onitsha main market where he sells clothes.
