The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba, met with the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at improving educational access and security across Nigeria.
A statement released on Sunday in Abuja by UBEC’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr David Apeh, highlighted the meeting’s focus on addressing key challenges, particularly the safety of schools in vulnerable areas and the promotion of equitable education for all children.
According to the statement, the discussion underscored the crucial link between education and national security, emphasising the need for collaboration between UBEC and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to enhance access to basic education and ensure safer learning environments nationwide.
“This collaboration reaffirms the government’s commitment to fostering a secure and inclusive learning environment as part of its broader agenda to strengthen the nation’s educational framework,” the statement said.
Earlier, the UBEC Executive Secretary pledged to engage critical stakeholders in dismantling barriers to education and creating inclusive learning opportunities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
