“It gladdens our hearts that, in the short time this university has existed, a number of our graduates are already doing so well globally, in scholarship, industry and professionalism,” Kolawole said.

To enhance the employability of its graduates, the vice-chancellor said the university had made skills acquisition and digital literacy programmes compulsory for all students alongside their core courses of study.

“We are already seeing results, with some of our students securing international remote jobs even before graduation through our digital literacy partnership,” Kolawole said.

Kolawole said the university had 22 fully accredited programmes, adding that four of them were due for reaccreditation by the National Universities Commission.

He added, “We have strengthened our staff strength with new qualified personnel, expanded our facilities to provide more classrooms, laboratories and offices, and added new academic programmes following successful resource verification by the National Universities Commission.

“I am glad to state that all our programmes are approved by the NUC and relevant professional bodies.

“Our Senate has also approved the restructuring of our academic units to better serve our students. We now have four faculties: Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Nursing Sciences, and Faculty of National and Applied Sciences.”

He further disclosed that the university had produced its first homegrown professor, Modupeade Adetunji, a scholar of Food Microbiology and Mycotoxicology.

The convocation week activities continue today with an induction ceremony for its Nursing Science graduates by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Another induction will hold on Wednesday for the Medical Laboratory Science graduates by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
