A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will be delivering the 25th convocation lecture of the Lagos State University, Ojo on March 22, 2022.
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed this at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.
Olatunji-Bello stated that the convocation lecture titled, ‘Global trends: Nigeria’s rightful place in the world,’ would be chaired by the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari.
She added that the ceremony would start on March 16 and end on March 24, saying the school would be graduating 7,232 students out of which 112 had first class.
Olatunji-Bello also said the rank of Emeritus Professor would be conferred on Prof. Peter Okebukola, while Honourary Doctorate Degree Awards would be conferred on the Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje; Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum; Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa; Chairman, Ikeja Hotel Plc, Lagos, Mr Goodie Ibru; and Founder/CEO, The Chair Centre Group, Lekki, Lagos, Mrs Ibukunoluwa Awosika.
She said, “It is my utmost pleasure to inform you that during this convocation, we will be graduating 7,232 students.
“112 students graduated with First Class Degree, which is the highest we have produced so far. I am also happy to announce that our best graduating student at this convocation, Olowu Damilare, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering had a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.97, which is also a new record in the university, while three of our best graduating students from the Faculty of Science had the same CGPA of 4.81.”
