The Internet is loving this Makeup Brand for numbering their Darkest foundation Shades First

Beauty Bakerie is a makeup brand that combines our two loves: Makeup (duh) and baked goods (double duh).

The black female-owned brand was founded by Cashmere Nicole back in 2011, who built an indie makeup brand into a $5 million dollar business, all whilst being a single mum and battling breast cancer.

After starting with a range of liquid lipsticks, Beauty Bakerie has now expanded into complexion with the launch of their Cake Mix Demi-Matte Foundation.

The vegan formula promises to provide medium to full coverage that won’t budge, or clog your pores.

Even better, the foundation is available in 30 shades, but it was Beauty Bakerie’s shade numbering decision that really impressed us and the rest of the Internet.

When someone questioned why the darkest shade was labelled #1, Beauty Bakerie had the best response.

“We arranged them dark to light. It means we’ve been conditioned to think that dark to light is out of order.”

“When we launched the foundation we sat down so many girls and asked what they thought about the shade range, and shade #1 was this girl named Julia, and she had really, really, dark, dark, rich skin,” says Cashmere. “And they said, ‘what do you like about Beauty Bakerie Cake Mix?’ and she giggled in the most innocent way and said, ‘That I’m number 1.'”
