The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has praised the feat of Dr. Aminat Olawunmi Ige-Ariyibi, the overall Best Doctoral Thesis Award Winner at the 54th Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Lagos, UNILAG.
Professor Olatunji-Bello said Ige-Ariyibi brought honour to her alma mater.
Recall that Dr. Ige-Ariyibi, an alumnus of and lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, LASU, set the pace at UNILAG for her thesis titled “O-Metric Spaces: A Novel Unification and Generalisation of Metric-Type Spaces with Applications in Fixed Point Theory”.
The Vice-Chancellor, while receiving Dr. Ige-Ariyibi at her office, congratulated the Akesan-born mathematician for the feat.
“Thank you for using your achievement to propel the good image of this great university. We are very proud of you,” she said.
Dr. Ige-Ariyibi was in the company of her husband, Dr. Nasir Ariyibi, when she visited the Vice Chancellor who was joined by two other members of the university management, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo, and the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu.
The Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Dr. Lateef Sekoni and Special Assistant to the VC, Dr. Lateef Salami were also at the reception.
