Teach For Nigeria (TFN) has inducted the eighth and fourth cohorts of fellows and school leaders, respectively, into its fellowship programme. The 2024 cohort, trained under the theme: “Teach Today. Shape Tomorrow. Your Leadership Matters Now,” is equipped with essential pedagogical and leadership skills to drive positive change in education.
TFN is a nationwide movement dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for children. In 2017, it launched its fellowship programme and to date, has successfully placed over 1,500 fellows across public primary and secondary schools in Lagos, Ogun, Kaduna, and Oyo states. This year, over 30,000 applicants aspired to join the programme; but 505 fellows and 93 school leaders were selected.
Chief Executive Officer of TFN, Mr. Ayodele Olajiga, charged the fellows and school leaders to make every day of their two-year commitment count, emphasising the need for collaboration.
“Ask the cohort whenever you are at a crossroad, and harness your collective strength to drive social change in your respective placement schools and communities,” he counselled.
A multiple award-winning teacher and Principal Education Officer in Lagos State, Adeola Adefemi, in her keynote address, urged the fellows and school leaders to embrace a culture of selflessness.
