The central defender has been handed the chance to sign a one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge and will consider the proposal in the coming days
John Terry has revealed that the new contract Chelsea have offered would see him take on a different role at the club.
The Blues captain announced at the end of January that he would not be given a new deal and was expecting to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer after 21 years in west London.
Chelsea, however, confirmed on Friday during Guus Hiddink’s press conference that a one-year contract extension had been tabled.
Terry confirmed on his Instagram page that he was weighing up the proposal, which he says would see him take on a “different role” at the club.
“Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes,” he wrote.
“The contract extension the club has offered me is a different role and I hope everyone will understand I want to take the time to consider it carefully before making a decision.”
