Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI), in partnership with Itel, has distributed food items and educational materials to 1,000 children across five schools at Okoagbon community, Makoko, Lagos.
Programme Officer, Edufood Programme, Mopelola Oladapo, said Edufood was a school feeding initiative of LFBI where students in underserved communities were given nutritious meals, which in turn positively impacted their presence in school.
“We are trying to reduce the rate of out of school children in this community and increase their enrolment and attendance rate in school. By providing meals, we are also ensuring they are able to concentrate and assimilate better in class,” she said
Oladapo says Edufood initiative runs every Tuesday and Thursday.
ATL Marketing Manager, Itel Mobile, Dolapo Olorunnimbe, said in celebrating World Food Bank Day, the firm decided to partner with LFBI to visit Mawumadoka Primary School in Makoko to spread love and joy to the students.
Noting that they have done similar projects around Nigeria within five years, he said they distributed items such as school bags, reading materials and food to the children.
