The vice principal of a girls-only secondary school in Adamawa State has been arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl underage girl.
Police indicated that the VP lured her into an uncompleted building where he had his way with her.
Enock Kwaleji, 52, was arrested on Sunday at Sangere in Jabbi Lamba District of Girei Local Government Area, the Police stated.
Police spokesman Suleiman Nguroje said in a statement that Kwaleji is the Vice Principal of the Senior Section of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Murke in Song council area.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect is a Vice Principal at GGSS Senior Section, Murke in Song LGA,” Nguroje stated, adding that the Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Akande, had directed the police officer in charge of Family Support Unit to take over investigation and to ensure diligent prosecution.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, “who frowned at the irritable incident”, advised the public, particularly parents, to be watchful of their female children against “criminal minded elements who are roaming about seeking who to take advantage of.”
The police commissioner however also assured the State Government and the general public of the command’s unrelenting effort to see that it ends all forms of gender-based violence, the statement added.
