The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will unveil the Lagos State Education Access Fund on Friday (today), aimed at returning out-of-school children to the classroom.
According to a statement on the Lagos State Government’s Facebook page on Thursday, the launch event will take place at the State House, Marina, on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
It noted that the initiative will be implemented through the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board in partnership with the Education Outcomes Fund.
The statement noted that the fund would be used to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children in the state and expand access to quality education.
It read, “The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board and its strategic partner, the Education Outcomes Fund, is set to launch the Lagos State Education Access Fund aimed at reinstating out-of-school children into the educational system.
“The initiative seeks to address the pressing issue of out-of-school children in Lagos and ensure every child has access to quality education.
“The Lagos Education Access Fund will provide support for vulnerable children and their parents, offering them a second chance at education and a brighter future.”
The statement noted that the programme would bring together stakeholders, educators and strategic partners to discuss effective strategies for implementing the initiative and improving access to basic education.
It concluded that the initiative was supported by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, the UBS Optimus Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
