Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured residents that since they have re-elected him in the last general election, the new Lagos they are clamouring for has just risen.
He hailed the people for their support and steadfastness during the last poll, which gave him another four years of running the affairs of the state.
The governor spoke during the 2023 1444 AH Eid-el-Fitri celebration with the theme: “After Difficulty, Comes Ease”, taken from Holy Quran 94 vs 6. The event was held at Lagos House Ground, Ikeja, Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu took the opportunity to congratulate Muslims for completing the Ramadan fast, especially for using the occasion to pray for the country, Lagos State, President Muhammadu Buhari, President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governors and local government chairmen, not forgetting heads of parastatals and corporate organisations.
Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu noted that the celebration had been sustained by the state government as a platform to host Islamic clerics, religious leaders, dignitaries and the public in line with the policy of inclusive governance and appreciation of the role of religious leaders “in the development of our dear state.”
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Religion (Muslim), Abdullah Jebe, thanked Muslim faithful, especially the committee saddled with the responsibility of organising the Eid-Ul Fitri celebration. He prayed that God would give them the strength and long life to witness more of the celebration on earth.
