Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has commended St. Gregory’s College for its enduring contributions to education, character development and leadership, describing the institution as a remarkable pillar in the history of education in the state and Nigeria.
He gave the commendation over the weekend at an event tsgged: Grand Reception and Lifetime Achievement Awards organised by the St. Gregory’s Old Boys’ Association, held at the Naval Dockyard, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Represented on the occasion by the State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, the governor said St. Gregory’s College had consistently demonstrated the transformative power of quality education, with its alumni distinguishing themselves across the public service, business, academia, the professions and other fields of endeavour.
Mr Governor particularly commended the establishment of the Endowment, Perpetual and Infrastructure Development Fund, describing it as a deliberate and commendable initiative aimed at preserving and strengthening the legacy of St. Gregory’s College for generations to come.
He said the Fund would provide a platform for scholarships, modern infrastructure, innovation, capacity development and educational excellence.
On the occasion, Mr. Agoro, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his exceptional achievements, distinguished service and enduring contributions to society, as well as for bringing honour and distinction to St. Gregory’s College in a manner that exemplifies the finest ideals and traditions of a Gregorian.
Other distinguished honourees included the the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso; Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu; His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, Oniru of Iruland; His Royal Majesty, Oba Mobadenle Obalade Oyekan, the Onilado of Ilado; His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adegboruwa of Igbogbo; Chief Anthony Asuquo Ani; and Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu, among others.
