Rainbow College, Lagos, in collaboration with Bridge International Academies and Pistis Foundation, has given five post-primary education scholarships to underserved children.
A statement by Rainbow College said the scholarships were awarded to a select number of students who had demonstrated academic merit, leadership potential, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities while also coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as verified by partner organisations.
It added that a total of four students, two graduates of Bridge International Academies and two from Pistis Foundations’ “Kids-Off-The-Street” (KOTS) shelter program accepted the scholarships and are now Rainbow College students.
“These scholarships are designed to empower students to pursue post-primary education without the burden of financial constraints. By providing quality post-secondary education to promising children who otherwise would have no access to it, Rainbow College aims to unlock doors to future opportunities and provide a platform for success for the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers,” it read.
Reflecting on this transformative partnership, the Founder of Rainbow College, Mrs Oludolapo Odunlami, stated, “We chose to embark on this collaborative venture largely because of our shared commitment to education. It is sure to have a ripple effect and leave a lasting impact on the lives of not only these students but their families and future generations.
“Together we changing the trajectory of their lives while empowering dreams and shaping them into leaders of tomorrow”
Meanwhile, in celebration of the season of love, and commitment to community support, Pampers Private School students, faculty, and staff held an annual charity visitation. The students at PPS Alaka visited the Red Cross Orphanage and Heart of God Hospice, Surulere while PPS Lekki students visited the Destitute Home at Ebute Meta.
The students got to interact with children of various ages, celebrating with various gifts, including toiletries, clothing, shoes, bags, toys, food items, beverages, noodles, and generous cash donations.
A statement by PPS maintained that the act of generosity would not have been possible without the invaluable support received from the school’s cherished parents, staff, and children who were rapidly developing compassion for those in need.
Head of Lekki School, Mr Olalekan Oluwadairo, “This year’s charity visitation holds a special place in our hearts as we commemorate our 40th anniversary. “It’s a joyous occasion to spread love and compassion, especially during this festive season in the communities that have embraced and supported us throughout our journey.”
According to the Head of Primary at the Alaka Campus, Mrs Funmi Lawore, “This exercise is an important part of our yearly activities as it not only teaches our pupils to give, but the visits are instrumental in shaping their perspectives on the needs of others less privileged than them.”
