Global Sports Brand PUMA and Hot Wheels, the number one selling toy in the world*, announced an exciting new partnership. The collaboration will bring to life the most iconic Hot Wheels toy cars reimagined in the all-new PUMA RS-X silhouette in time for the renowned toy brand’s 50th anniversary. The partnership reflects both brands’ commitment to champion innovation through creative collaboration.
Conceived in 1968 by an innovator, a rocket scientist and a car designer, Hot Wheels 1:64 scale die-cast cars were designed to look awesome and perform. Five decades later, the brand has evolved from a simple, yet beloved, toy car with orange track system into a global franchise powerhouse that offers fans of all ages multi-channel play experiences.
This season, PUMA is launching the RS-X sneaker, a reboot of the RS-0 which was built on the classic 80’s Running System (RS) line. Pushing boundaries in futuristic design with retro vibes, PUMA extends their RS range by partnering with exciting brands that take reinvention to the extreme, from the toy, television, telecommunication and motoring worlds.
Fusing the new RS-X extreme reinvention sneaker design with the beloved toy cars, it perfectly ties together the Hot Wheels challenger spirit with PUMA’s legacy of redefining sports style with forward-thinking approach to design and technology.
As a sampling of the range, PUMA and Mattel unveil the RS-X Toys Hot Wheels ‘Bone Shaker’ at the SEMA Automotive Tradeshow in Las Vegas. The sneaker draws inspiration from the celebrated toy car released in 2006.
The RS-X Toys Hot Wheels ‘Bone Shaker’ drops in South Africa in December for R2 499 at PUMA Select stores. Stay tuned for more details on the PUMA x HOT WHEELS collaboration.
