Female produced, diverse and hilarious, this new show sounds too good to be true
Alongside acting and being beautiful both inside and out (oh, she can also sing btw), Priyanka Chopra also produces films—and her next project looks like it’s going to be good.
Variety reports that her new show will “follow a former Bollywood star who settles down in the suburbs of America with her bi-cultural family and tries to bring her colourful lifestyle to an otherwise dull town.”
The story is based on the experience of Madhuri Dixit, the 50 year-old Bollywood star of films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!
Dixit is co-producing the show alongside Chopra, and is relatively unknown outside of South Asia, despite her huge success in Hindi film.
Dixit actually moved to Denver for 10 years, where she was able to live a ‘normal’ life, out of the public eye.
Chopra and Dixit’s show is set to be a comedy, and we can totally see why, we’re thinking it could be something between Desperate Housewives meets The Simple Life, but more diverse.
Chopra, 35, was a Bollywood star herself for about 12 years before pursuing an career in the US. Since her 2015 move she has gained international fame (though she was already a household name in India of course), starring in ABC’s Quantico, which made her the first South Asian to headline an American network series.
After two years in the international eye she has already been named the second most beautiful woman in the world (first place went to Beyoncé, obviously) and became a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador because of her relentless work for her charity, ‘The Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education’ which she donates 10 percent of her earnings to.
