Polytechnic lecturers declare support for ongoing ASUU strike
The Academic Staff of Polytechnics has backed the Academic Staff of Universities in the nationwide strike.
In a statement by the union’s Secretary General, Anderson Ezeibe, the union described ASUU’s action as a “Struggle to restore sanity to Nigerian Universities and the education sector.”
The union also called on the government to commence the implementation of agreements entered with ASUP to forestall an impending crisis in the polytechnic sub sector. ASUP added that, it was concerned about the effects the strike would have on students, parents and the society at large.
The statement said, “ASUP notes the renewal of hostilities on the country’s university campuses between ASUU and government of Nigeria.
“While we are in unconditional solidarity with ASUU in this struggle to restore sanity to Nigerian universities, we are calling on the government to commence without further delay the implementation of agreements entered into with ASUP to forestall an impending crisis in the polytechnic sub-sector”
