
The death of trailblazing Nigerian filmmaker and founder of the African Movie Academy Awards, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, was announced on Tuesday morning.
Anyiam-Osigwe, who was also the President of the Association of Movie Producers, died in a hospital in Lagos State.

- Anyiam-Osigwe was born on March 30, 1969
- She was the only girl out of eight children
- She hailed from Nkwerre in Imo State
- She had a degree in Law and Political Science from Oxford Brookes University in England
- Anyiam-Osigwe founded the Africa Film Academy in 2005, with the award ceremony reputed to be one of the most recognised awards for Africans in film-making
- In 2015, she began the AfricaOne initiative to commemorate Africans in the entertainment industry.
- In 2020, she emerged as the National President of The Association of Movie Producers
- Anyiam-Osigwe was an author of written poetry with three books to her credit
- In 2019, she was honoured with the African Film Pioneer Award at The African Film Festival
