THE Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun, Dr. David Oyedepo, has charged youths to invest their time wisely and imbibe the act of self-discipline in all spheres of their lives to achieve their set goals.

Oyedepo gave this charge over the weekend during the 21st matriculation ceremony of the institution for the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, Friday in Ota.

According to him, the days of the youths are the days of strength, urging the students not to toil with it.

Oyedepo advised the youths to make the best use of their time as youths.

He noted that access to the top was always at a cost of high-level discipline, among others.

The chancellor explained that the pain of discipline may be costly, but the result is priceless. “No one would ever be any more accomplished in his pursuit than when he is self-disciplined.

“What we find in our tomorrow are simply the fruit of the seed of hard work, discipline, and sacrifice made today.

“What one makes of his time today, would determine the outcome that awaits him tomorrow,” he said.

He cited Benjamin Franklin’s saying ‘dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that’s the stuff life is made of.’

Oyedepo implored the youth to recognize that time was an asset of inestimable value and a hidden treasure, saying the worth of a man’s time is what defines the worth of his life.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, said a total of 2, 216 students, which comprised 116 postgraduates, were matriculated for the 2020/2023 academic session.

The VC described the institution as a citadel of academic excellence where a new generation of leaders are modeled and trained to restore the lost glory of the black race.

“The products of Covenant University are the most employable graduates in Nigeria,” he said.

He added that the university was recently adjudged by the Times Higher Education as the leading research institution in five subject areas, which include Business and Economics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, and Physical Science.
