The nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest has been suspended in Lagos and Osun states by the organisers.
In Lagos, Comrade Hassan Taiwo Soweto, one of the organisers, said the protesters would not be intimidated by threats from security operatives.
His comments followed a statement by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, who declared the protest outlawed in the state.
Fayoade cited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent speech as a factor in the decision.
Soweto explained that the decision to take Tuesday off was made to allow the group to reassess and strategise.
“We decided to take the day off to evaluate our progress and plan our next steps,” Soweto added.
In Osun State, the protest was suspended after the organisers met with the state government. They were received by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi at the government secretariat in Osogbo.
Adewusi assured the protesters that their demands would be addressed and commended them for their peaceful conduct over the past six days.
