Ondo Appeal Court Judge Slumps, Dies

A 67-year-old Judge of the Court of Appeal, in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Justice Lokulo-Sodipe, has slumped and died.

He was said to have slumped in his office while preparing to attend a court session.

Sources said that frantic efforts by junior lawyers and his aides to revive him proved abortive, as he reportedly died on the way to the hospital.

The sad news of his demise was confirmed by the immediate past Chairman of the Akure branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, Mr Rotimi Olorunfemi, on a WhatsApp platform.

Olorunfemi said,  “Just confirmed it ( the judge’s death ) is true.

“He collapsed in the office at Court of Appeal, Akure this ( Monday) morning.

Was rushed to the hospital but confirmed DOA ( Death on Arrival)”

Contacted, the chairman, of NBA Akure, Banjo Ayenakin Esq, said that ” the news of the demise of Hon Justice Lokulo-Sodipe came to me as a rude shock.  My lord was a quintessential judge, very intelligent and forthright.

” I commiserate with his family and the President of the Court of Appeal, Nigeria.

Ayrnakin said that “The entire members of NBA Akure will surely miss his promptness, forthrightness and commitment to the development of Justice in Nigeria.
